Ashley and Nathan are the kind of couple who put their whole personality into every single detail. As an Omaha wedding photographer, days like theirs remind me exactly why I love what I do — and their September wedding in Omaha was proof of exactly that.
The Morning
The day began with one of my favorite kinds of moments — the quiet ones. Ashley’s parents stepped into the room and saw her in her gown for the first time. Her mom smiled softly, while her dad’s eyes lit up instantly. That moment needed no words.
Before the ceremony, Ashley and Nathan shared a private vow reading. They stood back to back, hands clasped, and read words written just for each other. It was tender and grounding, and it reminded me exactly why I love what I do.
The Ceremony at St. John’s Church
Ashley and Nathan said their vows at St. John’s Church on the Creighton University campus. The setting was breathtaking — soaring marble altars, flickering candlelight, and a sacred atmosphere that made every moment feel eternal. At the altar, Ashley glowed while Nathan squeezed her hands. Later, sitting side by side during the service, they shared quiet glances and private smiles that belonged only to them. Without a doubt, these two are each other’s favorite person.
Wedding Party Portraits at the Cottonwood Hotel
After the ceremony, we headed to the Cottonwood Hotel for portraits. The wedding party practically photographed themselves. Bridesmaids wore a jewel-toned rainbow of fuchsia, purple, orange, green, and teal, and their bouquets overflowed with bold, colorful blooms. On top of that, the hotel’s sage green walls, copper accents, and black-and-white striped floors made the perfect backdrop for this group.
The Reception Details
The reception details were chef’s kiss from top to bottom. Most importantly, Ashley and Nathan wove a travel theme throughout the entire day in the most thoughtful way. For example, guests found their seats using luggage tag escort cards hung on gold grid panels, with vintage suitcases stacked underneath and a sign that read “Love is an Adventure.”
In addition, the long feasting tables were draped in gold, with lush floral runners in hot pink, red, orange, and cobalt stretching their entire length. Near the entrance, a travel trunk held the most adorable sugar cookies — passport books, airplanes stamped with 9.28.24, and world maps. As a finishing touch, the favors were sleek black matchboxes reading “Love Struck — Ashley + Nathan, Est. September 28th, 2024.” Every single detail told their story.
The First Dance and Celebrations
Their first dance in the Cottonwood’s grand ballroom was everything. Nathan spun Ashley across the floor, and her sparkly ballgown caught every bit of light. Meanwhile, her smile was absolutely unstoppable.
Soon after, the dance floor turned into pure, glorious chaos. For an entire song, group after group came up to pose with Ashley and Nathan, and each one was more fun and outrageous than the last. Kids sat on shoulders, guests sprawled on the floor, and everyone gave it their all. You simply can’t plan a moment like that — it just happens when the right people gather to celebrate two people they love.
The After Party at Wonderbowl
Of course, these two weren’t done yet. The after party moved to Wonderbowl, where Ashley and Nathan changed into matching “Bride” and “Groom” bowling shirts. The neon lanes glowed pink and green, and the energy was through the roof. Nathan bowled while Ashley cheered him on with her whole body. As a result, it was the perfect ending to a bold, colorful, and completely authentic day.
